Portugal is definitely ideal with regard to horse riding with year round temperate climate, open land, forest tracks and an increasingly competitive inexpensive way of life compared to Spain. Horseback Riding in the Rocky Mountains

by Andrew W John

Today's world can often be hectic and troublesome. Work is a bother, stress is part of life, and so on. Relationships, too, can be stressful so that you feel sometimes as though you're just hanging on by a thread. Where does the time go, you think? It can be very easy with this kind of hassle to deal with every day to forget who and what we really are. There are a lot of things we can do to center and find ourselves once again.

However, we need serenity and peace of mind to function in our daily lives. There's no sense in just waiting for the next thing to happen without trying to calm down the frenzy we are already experiencing. If we do that, we've simply given into the stress we experience and the resulting confusion. If that happens, there's no telling what else will happen. Relationships will suffer, and so will work.

So what can you do in order to try and get back some of that - if just a small piece of sanity in an otherwise insane life. Nature has always been a great joy of mine. I find it quite soothing to walk among the trees and wildlife just taking all of God's creation in. It is a tremendous feeling to know that you are witness to a real miracle. What could make this miracle all the more pleasing and splendid then experiencing it with one of God's most beautiful creatures?

Horseback riding can be one way to get back in touch with nature. There is both joy and solace knowing that you are riding on top of a beautiful animal that has roamed the same mountains for hundreds of years. The horse was worshiped by the American Indians and has been since they first came into contact with each other. Horses can be domestic animals, yes, but they love and work hard, and they love the wilderness as much as humans do.

In the Rocky Mountains, you as the horseback rider can see scenery that you'll only see in works of art otherwise. In the land, you'll see wonder and miracles you can't see anywhere else. Once you mount your trusty horse, you can ride slowly through the brush and gallop on open plains that themselves lead you to mountains that give no human any better vista. Your horse, too, will enjoy the ride as you go together through the brush. This is how you take in the Rocky Mountains' scenery in the best way.

However, if you choose, you don't have to just have a slow and easy ride. Gallop in from the plains as you go to the Rocky Mountains if you choose. If your horse is able, you can even do a bit of mountain climbing on easy trails so that you can see breathtaking views of the world around you. The scenery itself seems to go on forever. The American Indians say that this area is a place for living spirits. You'll see what they mean and will feel it, too. The spirits of the ancient ancestors will give you a sense of peace, clarity and well being.
